Quilt Quest project blocks are designed to supplement the Quilt Quest curriculum with specific quilt projects. These project blocks assume some level of sewing skill, and are not designed for those with no prior quilt making experience.

The skills required for each Project Block correspond with the block numbers. Project Block 1 is the most basic and requires only basic beginning skills. Subsequent blocks require increasing levels of skill and mastery, ending with level 8. Step by step instructions with illustrations of each step are not included. Perfect Paper Piecing includes ideas and designs for paper piecing using original, multiple small paper piecing patterns. Designs can be dropped into anything from a placement to a full sized quilt using all kinds of sizes and shapes.

Beginning Basics is a collection of questions and answers. The questions and answers cover Fabrics and Patterns, Cutting Out a Quilt, Troubleshooting Your Sewing Machine, and Ready to Sew. For example, "Which should I choose first, my fabric or my pattern?", "What's a pillow form?", and "How do I hand baste?".

This handbook covers uniform regulations and procedures in 4-H light horse shows and events throughout the state. It is complete with sample courses, charts, and score sheets.

The 4-H Horse Project Manual is designed to give horse project youth basic information on the care and use of horses. This manual provides information on various breeds of horses and how to evaluate good conformation of any horse. Also, it reviews horse’s nutritional needs and safe feeding practices plus basic health care. Additionally youth will learn about equipment needed for grooming and riding, basic horsemanship, showing at halter and safety tips. It is not only for those that own horses, but also for those without a horse that simply desire to learn as much as they can about horses.

The youngest 4-H cook can gain skills in preparation of easy-to-make food for themselves and their families. Learning the names of the tools, how to measure, and basic kitchen safety come first, followed by good basic foods they can make and enjoy. Youth will become acquainted with the new MyPyramid as they learn some basic nutrition and meal-planning concepts.

Age Level: 8 to 14. Beginner to Intermediate

The Nebraska 4-H Clothing projects provide opportunities to make decisions, be creative, gain knowledge and skills, and work and share with others In the Clothing Level I curriculum, youth will learn basic clothing construction skills including selecting fabric and pattern, basic sewing techniques, clothing care and tips on modeling and grooming. To assess youth learning, the curriculum suggests that youth master 40 out of 50 skills listed on the Clothing Construction Skills Checklist before moving on the Clothing Level II.

This manual is a must have if you are a part of or training a poultry judging team. Poultry judging is an excellent opportunity for youth to learn about live birds and the basis of grade and quality of poultry products. This manual was prepared as an aid in teaching beginners, as well as experienced individuals, to properly evaluate egg-producing hens, and to apply USDA standards in grading ready-to-cook poultry and eggs. Learn everything you need to know about birds from this manual. The purpose of this project is to encourage young people to become aware of their environment, encourage young people to learn to observe birds and to keep records of those observations, allow young people to become excited about birds, encourage young people to read other materials, encourage young people to attract birds to their yard, and encourage young people and adults to work together. Participants are encouraged to work on at least two or more of the following activities: bird calendar and lifetime bird list; diorama; construction of a bird house, feeders, and waterers; essay.

The LEAP (Learning Education Action Plan) curriculum was developed to help youth understand various career opportunities in the Nebraska career Education Career Fields and Clusters.   It was developed with the Nebraska Department of Education.  School standards are included.

Part A.  The model upon which the curriculum is based is on page 56.  We have included a concrete activity for each of the 12 foundation skills.  You will discover and work with skills that will build a strong foundation for any career path. 

Part B.  Introduction to entrepreneurship is an “umbrella” unit because it can apply to every possible career. 

Part C. Students will delve into the Career Fields.  For each field, students will explore career opportunities and the skills necessary to be successful in that field.  Related 4-H curricula is identified for each of the career fields.

Part D.  Preparing to LEAP.  Students design a Learning Experiences Action Plan (L.E.A.P.)

The next step in this journey is laying the foundation. You will explore the core values of your business and learn how to give back to the community. Learn how to demonstrate good time management skills. Ethics and legal considerations, professionalism, and relationship building are all themes within Unit 2.

The activity book is for youth to use as they work with the project activities.  Each page of the youth’s activity book corresponds to the Helper’s Guide and the multiple activities they can do.

• Keeping youth healthy and safe while learning and having fun is important.  The first part of this Helper’s Guide will help you help children to use safe tools, products, and practices.

• Section 1.  Hang It, Fold It, Keep Your Space Neat, introduces youth to ways to keep their space or room organized with less clutter while making it easier to find their things.

• Section 2.  Save It, Recycle It, Reuse It, the second section, helps youth help the environment by reducing energy and water use and making recycling easier.

• Section 3.  Color it, Paint It, Create It, involves youth in experiencing color through mixing and using colors to create items for their space or room, or for others.

This manual has eleven experiments and projects to help youth conduct and learn about their rocketry project. Once the foundation is in place, Unit 3 continues your entrepreneurial journey with the “nuts and bolts” of starting your business. Create your Business Plan and plan a marketing strategy. Utilize the internet to promote your product or service to reach a broader audience.

Have you always wanted to become a veterinarian? This manual serves as an introduction to the fundamentals of veterinary science and will give you a better understanding of animal health and care. It can serve as a resource for what is “normal” and “abnormal” in regards to animal health. If the world of veterinary science interests you, consider this your beginner’s guide!
