What's hiding underneath all that green?

Become a Leaf Detective and investigate the chemistry, biology and engineering behind one of nature's most colorful transformations!

By the end of the workshop, students should be able to:

Identify the basic parts of a leaf.

Explain why leaves are green.

Describe the role of chlorophyll in photosynthesis.

Explain why leaves change color in the fall.

Identify some of the pigments found in leaves.

Investigate how different leaves vary.

Collect and interpret simple data.

Explain how trees prepare for winter.
