Have you ever heard of the culinary challenge and thought “what is that?” This is the workshop for you!

The Culinary Challenge helps youth demonstrate healthy decision making through nutrition, food preparation, menu planning, and food safety. To showcase these skills, youth will create a menu, prepare a food item and choose an appropriate theme for their occasion while speaking with a judge. Every year, there is an ingredient that participants must use in their menu, this year the ingredient is PORK!

At this workshop, youth will learn more about pork, create a menu while learning about what is needed to create a balanced menu, learn how to prepare a food item with pork while learning food safety and finally, youth will get to go shopping for place setting items!

At the end of this workshop, youth will be able to participate at the 2025 Buffalo County 4-H Culinary Challenge on June 24th. More information will be given to parents at the workshop about the Culinary Challenge. It is not mandatory that youth participate in the Culinary Challenge to participate in the workshop.

Parents are invited to come at 2:30 so youth can showcase their tables and menu!

Time: 10am-3pm

Limit: 12 participants

Cost: $30-covers lunch, snack, and items to use on their tables.
