    Reducing Woody Encroachment in Grasslands: A Guide for Understanding Risk and Vulnerability

    This guide provides the most comprehensive review of how to manage woody plant encroachment in the Great Plains. The guide introduces a science-based framework for reducing encroachment that can be applied at any stage of the encroachment process. Concepts from the guide have been adopted through local, state, and national grassland initiatives like the Great Plains Grassland Initiative. In Nebraska, concepts from the guide are estimated to save $25-500 per acre in management costs compared to past approaches.
