The mission of UNITE is to promote the academic prowess and the professional development of Native American students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, to aid in their personal growth and social well-being, and to facilitate their participation in the UNL community. Every year, UNITE hosts an annual contest powwow to honor graduating UNITE members, as well as Native American seniors at Lincoln Public Schools. The purpose of the powwow is to bring exposure to the UNL community of our way of life and share an important cultural practice among many tribes. The powwow is our main opportunity each year to bring awareness to the UNL community with dance, food, and merchandise for students, faculty, and staff.
