Description: This paper presents conclusions regarding the correlation and structural features of the Upper Carboniferous rocks in the lower Platte Valley area in which geologic study began more than 100 years ago. The area is an inlier separated from the type sections of Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa by the Forest City Basin where the beds which outcrop in the Platte Valley and at Kansas City become deeply buried and the overlying strata are mantled locally by Pleistocene deposits.
