Description: In Lancaster County, Nebraska, the Dakota aquifer has been used as a source of water where other sources have not been adequate. One of the primary limitations to the use of Dakota groundwater is that the water quality is quite variable, even for wells in close proximity. The specific causes for the variation are poorly understood at this time. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the distribution of water types and total dissolved solids in ground water from the Dakota aquifer and related creeks in Lancaster County, Nebraska.
