Coal Resources of Nebraska (RR-8)

Description

Burchett, R. R., 1977. Coal Resources of Nebraska (RR-8): 185 pp., size 8.5" x 11". Description: Beds of subbituminous to bituminous coal in rocks of the Virgil Series of the Pennsylvanian System and beds of lignite in the Upper Cretaceous Series crop out at several places in eastern Nebraska. But these beds are too thin to be worked economically. Several coals in the Des Moines Series of the Pennsylvanian System are deeply buried in southeastern Nebraska, and one deep-lying lignite bed of Tertiary age reportedly was encountered by drilling at Chadron, in Dawes County. Mining of these seams has not been attempted.
