Description: Recent subsurface investigation in Nemaha County, Nebraska, has led to the discovery of a gypsum bed in the lower part of the Johnson Shale (Permian). The gypsum bed is about 10 feet thick and may cover approximately 118 square miles. This report presents the geological and structural framework of this gypsum occurrence and suggests the necessity for additional exploration and drilling to determine the economic feasibility of development.
